Circumcision of boy children is an intervention with consequences for the child's physical, mental and social functioning and therefore ethically irresponsible, according to the Danish Physical Therapists' ethical advice.
There are professional arguments that allow physiotherapists to deal with the circumcision of boys, including traumatizing consequences, such as impaired sexual and physical functioning, which have consequences later and for the rest of their lives.
As physiotherapists, we must work for individuals and the population to develop and maintain maximum functional ability throughout their lives and to help ensure the best interests of the child.
