Meatusstenose: "We recommend postponing the circumcision"

  • Zitat

Results: 98 (85%) children were seen in the first two years of life and
directly related to circumcision.18 (15%) cases were seen between three
and four years of age. 110 (95%) cases underwent conventional meatotomy,
while 6 (5%) had meatal diletation.
Conclusion: Meatal Stenosis might be related to neonatal circumcision.
We recommend postponing the circumcision until the age of two years...

I recommend postponing the circumcision until the age of eighteen years. :P

Indeed, as the history of female circumcision suggests, if male circumcision
were confined to developing nations, it would by now have emerged as an in-
ternational cause celebre, stirring passionate opposition from feminists, physicians, politicians, and the global human rights community. If routine medical
circumcision didn't exist today, no one would dare to invent it.

we carried out a prospective cross-sectional study on 1031 circumcised boys, aged 5 to 8 years (mean age 6.1 years ± 0.3 years),

    Zitat

The screening revealed the presence of meatal stenosis in 185 children, representing a prevalence of 17.9 % of cases (95% CI = 15.6–20.3).

In addition, this study showed that boys circumcised during their first week of life are twice as likely to develop meatal stenosis than those circumcised between 7 and 12 months
