However, some uninformed Mohalim have begun to neglect the 'Periah' and 'Metzitza' that make the Mitzvah complete.

  • Genau!
Keine Wirkung ohne Periah und ohne metzizah, sagen zumindest derart orthodoxe Zeitgenossen.
    Also... alles oder nichts.

  • Zitat

"One has to ask the Mohel prior to selecting him to be the one to perform the Milah in place of the father whether he follows the tradition received from our forefathers regarding the Milah and the Periah with the fingernails and the Metzitza with the mouth, and if he the Mohel doesn't follow the tradition from our forefathers and doesn't follow the required order, then he must look for another Mohel who will be truthful and G-d fearing as it is written in the Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah Siman 264 Rama "And one has to look for a Mohel that will be the best and a Tzaddik (Rama in the name of the Or Zarua) And the Mohel who changes the tradition regarding the way the circumcision is made and he annuls the Mitzvah of Periah with his nails and Metzitza with his mouth he is neither a good man and much less a Tzaddik."

Auf eine der Seiten heisst es.

    Zitat

"There are several steps to the circumcision process: removal of the foreskin, ‘periah’ – moving aside the remaining skin, and hatafat dam brit (metzizah- drawing out the blood), which the mohel does with his mouth, a test tube, or another sterile tube. After the completion of each of these few-second steps, the mohel soothes the baby with a pacifier, a finger, or gauze pad dipped in wine and wraps or bandages the place of the circumcision. The mohel places the foreskin in a jar with sand, which he buries in the ground, after the brit. After the physical circumcision, other verses are recited, and the child is given his name".

Der Lubavitcher Rebbe sagt dazu folgendes.

    Zitat

"Moreover, this restriction applies to both stages of the mitzvah - milah, the excision of the foreskin, and periah, the removal of the thin membrane. Iif a mohel did the first stage without the second, it is as if he had not circumcised at all)."
