Daniel, whose real name is something else, was one of doctor Rafik Abu-Ramadan's first patients in Sweden. The father, Karim, paid SEK 1,000 to the doctor and got to see his son Daniel and five other boys circumcised without anesthesia in poor hygienic conditions.
When the son could not urinate for two days and fell ill, he understood that something had gone wrong.
As a teenager, Daniel underwent surgery to correct the faulty
circumcision. The doctor Rafik Abu-Ramadan was convicted in both the
district court and the court of appeal for child abuse. But he was later
acquitted in the Supreme Court because the parents consented to the
circumcisions.

Doctor Abu-Ramadan, who at the time had an Egyptian medical license, was able to continue his path towards becoming a Swedish doctor. Soon there were new alarms about incorrect circumcisions. In 2007, a three-week-old boy came to the emergency room in Malmö with life-threatening injuries.

There is also a report in Denmark that two boys fell ill in 2012 after being circumcised by Abu-Ramadan. But the incident was sensitive for those involved and the report was never followed up.
