Jewish Women Move Into a Male Domain: Ritual Circumcision

  • "“It’s sort of like, I am a mohel, I am open for business, I am going to advertise on Facebook, I am going to get clients. It isn’t how we tend to think about opportunities for rabbis,” Rabbi Linzer said. “There are babies born every day, and if you are doing well, you can make a nice living.”

The job these days does come with occasional harassment, Dr. Blake said. It’s “anti-Semitism merged with anti-circumcision,” she explained.

    Who harasses who?

Indeed, as the history of female circumcision suggests, if male circumcision
were confined to developing nations, it would by now have emerged as an in-
ternational cause celebre, stirring passionate opposition from feminists, physicians, politicians, and the global human rights community. If routine medical
circumcision didn't exist today, no one would dare to invent it.

    Man weiß ja heute nie.

Anti-circumcision activists have pounced on a New York Times feature article about female mohels, flocking to the comments section to describe Jewish ritual circumcision as “barbaric,” “primitive,” “child abuse,” and “mutilation.”

Folks, it's not mutilation. It's not barbaric. It's safe.

    usw...

I mention all this simply to say male circumcision is not only a Jewish practice, and lots of men seem to prefer it.
