Do some feel that perhaps FGM is getting too much attention? The reason I ask is that there was a demo outside Parliament last week.

It consisted of three chaps wearing baggy white T-shirts with crimson stains on them, holding up placards saying STOP THE CHOP.

Were they protesting against Tory cuts, helicopter tours of Manhattan, or the flagrant abuse of the disposable chopstick (all have used the same slogan)?

It turned out to be circumcision. I do think it’s peculiar that we ban the genital mutilation of girls, but allow boys to be cut. My instinct tells me to side with the Stop the Choppers.

In fact, if this isn’t too much information, as a mother I am what the campaigners call an ‘intactivist’.
