The former Blackburn GP, who has worked at Brookhouse Medical Centre and as a locum for The Family Practice at Barbara Castle Way Health Centre, was also sanctioned over the circumcision of a 15-month-old baby with a heart condition.

The panel also ruled his conduct in the circumcision case was also grave and could have resulted in the infant’s death.
Dr Bux failed to warn the boy’s parents of the risks associated with the surgery, given his cardiac condition, they said.

The panel also found there were serious failings by Dr Bux in what was described by the General Medical Council as a "reckless and cavalier" circumcision of a 15-month-old child in 2017, which resulted in the child being taken to hospital.
The panel concluded it should not have been done in a community setting, he had not obtained adequate medical history of Patient A, who had a heart condition, and he administered incorrect doses of medicine.
"Patient A was placed at significant risk of life-threatening complications that could not be dealt with in the community," Mrs Oakford said.
Michael Hayton QC, on behalf of Dr Bux, submitted to the tribunal it was a "one-off
incident" and he had conducted thousands of circumcisions within the
community without complications

Expert witness Nigel Zoltie also criticised Dr Bux for circumcising the 15-month-old, referred to as Patient A, in a community setting.
He said: "It remains my opinion that all actions were likely to put Patient A at high risk of life-threatening complications that could only managed with great difficulty in the community. For a religious procedure these risks were unacceptable, and therefore the care was seriously below standard."
