"The Board was active in lobbying the German government to remedy the damage caused by the ruling of the Cologne district court that placed in question the right to perform Brit Milah. Board President Vivian Wineman led a Board delegation to see the German Ambassador to the UK Georg Boomgarden. The Ambassador conveyed the concerns to Berlin and the Board received letters in response containing the assurance that the German government would enact legislation. The German Jewish community was strongly supportive of the Board’s intervention."
