Val-d'Oise: a circumciser prosecuted for illegal practice of medicine
Hocine, a resident of Villiers-le-Bel, was indicted and placed under judicial supervision with a ban on practicing. He is also suspected of involuntary injuries and money laundering.

This is an extremely rare decision. An investigating judge at the Pontoise court (Val-d'Oise) indicted a circumciser from Villiers-le-Bel (Val-d'Oise) on 6 May for illegal practice of medicine. He is accused in particular of having performed two circumcisions on children aged 5 and 6, one of which gave rise to complications . In both cases, the parents went to the emergency room at the Rennes hospital (Ille-et-Vilaine). After learning the circumstances of the act, the medical staff sent a report to the public prosecutor's office and the Order of Physicians , which led to a judicial investigation.
Hocine, 37, was arrested at his home on May 14 and placed in police custody for forty-eight hours. "I was never worried. I never received a call or summons regarding my job," he said in surprise. His equipment was seized during the search, including an anesthetic product. His accounts were combed through, as was his phone. At the end of his police custody, he was brought before an investigating judge who charged him with illegal practice of medicine, unintentional injuries, concealed work and money laundering (he is accused of not having declared his income and his activity). The placement in pretrial detention was ultimately not retained.
