The plaintiff’s attorneys said the child, whose name is being withheld, will suffer mental anguish for years because of his deformity.

Midwife Melissa Jones accidentally let a scalpel slip and part of his penis was severed but clinic staff sent him home bleeding rather than trying to get it reattached.
A lawsuit filed by the boy's family also claims that Jones and Dr Brian Register decided to store the piece of his penis in a fridge.
It was thrown out months later when it became apparent that legal action was imminent.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the child's mum, Stacie Willis, was instructed to insert an instrument into his penis three times a day to stop it closing up.
Since the procedure in October 2013, a jury heard how the boy has been left with physical pain and and has to remove scabbing just to urinate.
He has since had surgeries in Minnesota and Massachusetts in order to make it easier for him to urinate and doctors are hopeful that he will be able to have children in future.
Doctors add that the child will have to undergo more tests when he hits puberty to see if he will require further surgery.

Lawyer Neal Pope, who represented the boy and his mother, told the court in Clayton County that he will suffer years of mental anguish because of his deformity.
He said that the child is likely to struggle to find a partner and is likely to face embarrassment when he is older during the two-week court proceedings, WSB Radio reports.
Pope showed jurors the metal instrument, a Mogen clamp, which was used when the tip of the child's penis was amputated.
He added that the boy's mother was not told that his penis had been severed and nobody, including Jones and Register, suggested emergency surgery to sort the problem.
