tended to think of the (lack of) pain
associated with circumcision as well
as the risk for penile cancer as cultural
information, rather than medical
information, although terms like
“cancer” and “pain” would seem to
refer to medical issues.
Thus, perceived
medical (e.g., cancer) risks
and health promotion (e.g., hygiene)
issues are likely to be chosen along
with culturally mediated issues (e.g.,
bodily aesthetics; father/son matching).
It may be that a number of perceived
health issues are more likely.
